14 maj, 2011 - kl. 10:00 till 12:00
Africa is the only continent with a regional child rights treaty – the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. It builds on the same principles as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child but highlights issues of specific importance in Africa. This seminar aims to strengthen the knowledge among Swedish CSOs and development actors about the African Human Rights system and show how CSOs in Africa can use it to advance children’s rights.
Jesper Hansén from Save the Children Sweden, and Laure Abado from Plan Sweden, will give an overview of the African Human and Child Rights system. Njundu Drammeh from Child Protection Alliance in the Gambia will provide concrete examples of how to use the Child Rights mechanism in development programming.
Lena Forsgren, Policy Specialist at Sida, will give an overview of the policies and priorities of Sida.
Date: Tuesday June 14, 10.00–12.00, at Sida. Registration by June 10 to seminariumplansverige.org. The seminar will be held in English.
