29 juni, 2017 - kl. 14:00 till 15:30
As the second United Nations High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is approaching, it is the pleasure of International IDEA and the Swedish Development Forum (FUF) to invite you to a seminar on the implementation, follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
‘People-Centred Monitoring of SDG16:
Peace, Justice and Strong Inclusive Institutions’
Venue: International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance Strömsborg
When? Thursday, 29 June 2017 14:00-15:30
To meet the ambition of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, it is essential that commitments are matched by equally comprehensive and inclusive data collection, monitoring and reporting frameworks. The HLPF contributes to this end by carrying out regular voluntary reviews of the 2030 Agenda, which include countries as well as relevant UN entities and other stakeholders. In 2017, 44 countries have volunteered to present their national reviews to the HLPF.
The purpose of this seminar is to review progress towards the Agenda 2030 in general, and in particular towards the agreement and piloting of a set of indicators to monitor and assess SDG 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
How is the SDG16 monitoring framework coming together, in particular with regards to data collection at the global level? How can democratic accountability help make the SDG monitoring framework truly people-centred? These are some of the questions that will be discussed.
-Massimo Tommasoli, Permanent Observer for International IDEA to the United Nations
